Praying for children 2020 Day 3: What Would It Take?

Jesus was teaching one day and he told people,

‘It does no good to make yourself the judge of others and to be always comparing yourself against others. Life is not a competition. Plus, whenever you look at others and judge them, you will find your own judgey attitudes coming right back at you, too.

Most of the time, what you think you see is ‘wrong’ with other people is just a way to keep you from seeing and accepting what is in your own heart. Tend to your own heart first, then you will see more clearly and you will be kind, gentle and wise to help others.’

~ paraphrase of Matthew 7:1-5

Pause for thought

What might be a way for you to see and accept what is in your own heart? How might you catch yourself when you start being judgey and let your heart open? What is one thing you can do today that moves you towards acceptance?

Prayer for Today

Dear God,

Today we pray for children and ask what will it take?

Show us how we can live more fully into that question in our church community, with our friends, where we work and at home in our family.

In the name of Jesus,

Amen
